  Les World Series of Poker devaient trouver un événement pour se démarquer encore plus des autres circuits de poker concurrents. Cette année, un nouveau tournoi est apparu : le H.O.R.S.E. qui remet au goût du jour le "mixed games", pratiqué à la "grosse partie" menée au Bellagio de façon quotidienne. A chaque main, le type de poker est différent : Texas Hold'Em, Omaha, Razz, Stud, etc. En tout, cinq types de poker très différents que les participants doivent tous maîtriser pour espérer atteindre la table finale. L'exercice est élitiste, le prix d'entrée tout autant : 50 000 dollars pour s'asseoir à table, aux côtés de tous les plus grands noms sans exception, de Chip Jett à Doyle Bruson, en passant par Phil Ivey, David Benyamine, Freddy Deeb, etc. En tout, plus de 150 joueurs ont déboursé ce prix et s'affrontent depuis 24h dans la grande salle du WSOP. Le public est massé autour d'eux et la structure lente du tournoi (qui se joue en Limit) permet à chacun de développer son jeu. Le gagnant emportera plus d'1,7 millions de dollars, dans 3 jours, et surtout la considération de tous ses pairs.

There ar many spectators, including other poker players who did not have the money to play at this game. The winner will cash more than 1,7 millions dollars, in three days, and will be considered as one of the best players in the world.
