Pour Joe Hachem, les World Series 2006 ont été exceptionnelles : il a confirmé dès les premiers tournois son niveau de jeu et son statut de champion, en participant à une table finale, puis en finissant second. Quand il a remis son titre de champion du monde en jeu, il y a une semaine, il était très tendu : comment se sortir du gigantesque champ de joueurs qui peuplait le premier jour du tournoi ? quelle attitude adopter si on se fait sortir en quelques minutes ? comment eviter tous les pieges tendus par chaque compétiteur qui veut "sortir" le tenant du titre ? Joe aura tenu, avec maestria, quatre jours presque pleins et finira 240eme, sur 9000 joueurs, en même temps que Daniel Negreanu... Il aura plus que rempli son contrat même si, comme toujours, son but était une fois encore d'aller jusqu'au bout. Mais le Main Event est fluctuant, et ses chipleaders d'un jour peuvent sombrer en quelques heures. En haut du tableau provisoire, on ne retrouve que deux grands noms du poker : Annie Duke, la soeur d'Howard Lederer, et Humberto Brenes, l'idole du public. Il reste encore plusieurs jours de compétition et tout peut encore basculer à chaque main... Joe has made much more than most of the players : he finished 240th in an enormous field of more than 9000 players, like Daniel Negreanu. His fans have been everywhere, harassing him for autographs or picture, and applauding him when he walked out the big Amazon room. Even if he'd have secretely liked to go to the finale table, he knew that the Main Event is somehow randomly, and that one day chipleaders can sink in a couple of hands and get busted. By now, only two big names of poker are at the top of the ranking : Annie Duke, Howard Lederer's sister, and Humberto Brenes, the fans' favorite. Few days remain, and everything will be torn upside down... |
